Basic Information Exchange
Who Would Benefit:  This educational meeting is helpful for landowners and renters who are interested in learning some very basic information about what permaculture, edible landscaping, and/or edible forest gardening are and how they might be applied to a particular site.

What You Can Expect:

  • An information sheet explaining the basics of permaculture, edible landscaping, and edible forest gardening and some resources to learn more.
  • A site walk with the client to discuss: food production desires and possibilities (gardening), nutrient recycling and retrieval (composting and mulching), water collection and recycling opportunities, and green energy production.  We will also talk about existing resources including basic plant identification, as well as site limitations, drainage issues, soil testing needs, and area point pollution sources.
  • Questions and Answers
  • General suggestions for client to implement
  • Client may make an audio recording of the meeting

Time:  approximately 2 hours
Rate:  $150 due at time of meeting please

Consultation
Who Would Benefit:  This educational meeting is intended for landowners and renters who have an interest in implementing permaculture, edible landscaping, and/or edible forest gardening and want to learn more about the possibilities at a particular site.

What You Can Expect:

  • An information sheet explaining the basics of permaculture, edible landscaping, and edible forest gardening and a more extensive resource list for plants and materials as well as book and web resources.
  • A site walk with the client to discuss: food production desires and possibilities (gardening), nutrient recycling and retrieval (composting and mulching), water collection and recycling opportunities, and green energy production.  We will also talk about existing resources including more detailed plant identification, as well as site limitations, drainage issues, soil testing needs, and area point pollution sources.
  • Questions and Answers
  • Client may make an audio recording of the meeting
  • A client interview and questionnaire to identify goals
  • Visioning with client to create a schematic design
  • Within one week of the consultation, I will provide a basic written summary of our conversation focusing on basic goals identification, site resources, and limitations; at least one conceptual design; and written proposal options for design, planning, and implementation, if you have indicated interest in these services.

Time:  2-3 hours of meeting time plus 2-3 hours of consultant preparation and followup
Rate:  $400 due at time of meeting please

Design Support
Who Would Benefit:  Landowners and renters who have had a consultation and are eager to implement permaculture, ecological design, edible landscaping, and/or edible forest gardening and who desire a DIY approach with my professional support.

What You Can Expect:  I support you with the design and implementation of your design plan.  I will be available to guide you through the necessary steps for designing the site and to point you towards pertinent resources for plants and other materials.  I will also be able to review plans you create, and assist you in finding local professionals (landscapers, solar energy experts, etc.) who can help implement your ideas.

Time:  Dependent on client
Rate:  $75 per hour

Simple Site Plan
Who Would Benefit:  Landowners and renters who have had a consultation and are eager to develop a plan for implementing permaculture, edible landscaping, and/or edible forest gardening and who want delegate the general planning phase.

What You Can Expect:

  • An additional meeting to clarify and refine your goals statement
    • One (1) additional day of site analysis & assessment. This additional site analysis & assessment will focus on:
    • Landform and water flow
    • General climate and microclimate analysis
    • Sun and shade analysis to locate garden and planting beds and to assess the viability of solar power, if desired.
    • Existing vegetation and soils analysis including identifying existing vegetation, examining soil types, and discuss any suggested soil testing
    • Access and circulation, to understand the patterns of human traffic on the site
    • Resource evaluation to maximize use of existing site resources
      • A simple written site plan for property that includes a simple drawn design, plant list and procurement resources, and implementation suggestions.

Time:  Dependent on site
Rate:  Quote provided prior to beginning ($75 per hour plus expenses for any agreed upon soil testing)

Detailed Site Design
Who Would Benefit:  Landowners and renters had a consultation and who are eager to develop a detailed implementation plan for permaculture, edible landscaping, and/or edible forest gardening and who want delegate the planning and/or implementation phase.

What You Can Expect:  This service is very site and client specific and would be outlined and detailed after a consultation.

Time:  Dependent on site
Rate:  Quote provided prior to beginning ($75 per hour plus expenses for any agreed upon soil testing)
